Headteacher's Question

Coursework v Exams

This week's TES talks about exam reform. Prior to 1986, the exam only approach was seen as unfair to the many hard-working pupils who struggled to do themselves justice under exam conditions. From 1986, the new English GCSE offered 100% coursework to candidates with no exams involved. Coming full circle, in September pupils will start working towards new English language and literature GCSEs that will be 100% exam assessed.
