On Saturday 12 July, students of the Music Department accompanied by Mrs Falzon, Miss Leary and Mr Green showed off the fruits of their labour at a concert at the Hawkwell Summer Fayre hosted at the Rochford Hundred Rugby Club.
The concert comprised of a number of great acts from many year groups with standout performances from Year 10 band ‘The Project’ with their renditions of Bruno Mars amongst other hits, and Year 9 students Ellen Swanson-Brown and Ashleigh Mikhail’s ukulele-vocal performance. Thank you to all parents and students who supported this event. A hearty congratulations to all students who were involved and battled through the summer sun to deliver some great performances!
Members of the cast of this year's musical theatre production "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" gave a preview of their performance last week at Clements Hall Leisure Centre.
Although the centre was not as busy as expected, those members who watched the performance enjoyed it tremendously and the manager of the centre has invited the students to return next year to showcase their talent once again.

Last term was a busy term for the Health & Social Care students in Years 10, 11, 12 & 13. During the last three weeks of the Christmas term the Year 12 & 13 students visited the elderly at Ashingdon Hall Care Home where they entertained the residents with Bingo, Christmas Quizzes, Card making and a Nativity Pantomime. The residents enjoyed themselves so much that the students have been invited back for Easter! The Year 10 students supported the Year 6 students of Cedar Hall who took part in a range of Christmas activities planned by the Year 10 students which included making animal face masks, Christmas cards and Christmas decorations.
Greensward's Year 12 and 13 Art and Photography students attended the Hockley and Hawkwell Day Centre on 4 October to work with people of all ages and Artist Lisa Hawker in creating memory art. The age difference was easily gapped with students and locals sharing memories and life comparisons whilst working on portraits and memory art, that we will hope to see in the Rochford Art Trail.
We are delighted to announce that the Sports Hall at Greensward has been renamed as "The Richard Vingoe Sports and Community Centre" this week. Mr Vingoe worked tirelessly throughout his adult life to support the community and in particular the young people of Hockley. Mr Vingoe was also a governor of Plumberow Primary School and of Greensward College before he sadly passed away in June 2008.
Mrs Vingoe and her family and members of the local community were invited to unveil a commemorative plaque, cut the ribbon and enjoy student displays of gymnastics, kick boxing, dancing and singing.
