ALBERT EINSTEIN ACADEMIES FUSION
“It is easier to maintain good health through proper exercise, diet, and emotional balance than to regain it once it is lost.”  -Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper

Introduction

Welcome, Bienvenidos, Willkommen to Coach Diamond's Physical Education Website.  The AEACMS Physical Education program curriculum is based on the Physical Education Model Content Standards for California Public Schools.  Each year students will be assessed on a variety of concepts, including fundamental skills, movement patterns, self-responsibility, social interaction, and group dynamics.  AEA Physical Education is designed to uphold the academic standards created by the school and students will be challenged to collaborate, motivate and innovate.

Albert Einstein Academies offer an authorized International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IB/MYP).  In the MYP, Physical Education will provide students with an understanding of life-long wellness in the context of sport, fitness, and health.  Our curriculum will encourage this holistic approach to learning by providing four areas of study; Cardiovascular Health, Functional Fitness, Lifetime Activities (cooperative games, team and individual sports), and Principles of Resistance Training and Flexibility.  The Areas of Interaction and the IB Learner Profiles will act as our guide as we explore these concepts throughout the school year.  The Physical Education program is dedicated to providing a continuum from the Primary Years Program (PYP) to the MYP for AEA students.

About Me
I was originally born in Orange, California, however, I was raised just outside of Houston, Texas.  I loved growing up in Texas!  I was lucky enough to be involved in top-notch academic, sports and music programs at the public schools that I attended.  Soccer was my passion and with guidance from my family and teachers, hard work, and a little bit of luck, I was able to continue my education in college, while playing soccer.  I attended Lees-McRae College in North Carolina, before transferring to Cal State University, San Bernardino, and eventually receiving my teaching credential at SDSU.  I was also fortunate to coach briefly at the college level for Cal State San Marcos as Goal Keeper Coach for the Men's and Women's Soccer Team.

I am beginning my 7th year teaching, 4th year at AEA.    Throughout this time I have coached soccer, flag football, tennis and basketball.  We have made tremendous strides in the PE Dept. continuing to expand our IB curriculum, FUSION Committee,Youth Trainers, and other health and fitness opportunities.  Stay tuned for more information...and a great 2011-2012 school year!

Currently, I live in Encinitas with my wife, Vicki, and our dog, Halo.  We love taking our dog to Fiesta Island or any Dog Park/Beach, running along the 101, and cooking together.  I also enjoy playing my guitar and discovering new music.
