Monday, August 31
I will be handing back the annotations from last week (Tuesday, August 25). I will also be focusing on how students can recover some credit for this assignment. One thing that was really lacking was "author's purpose" This can be fixed by writing a statement on the bottom of the page explaining the purpose and bias/point of view of the author. For this reading, a statement like:
"The purpose of the author is to give the reader facts and ideas that support his views on civilization. It does not contain persuasive language, and the author is writing like an expert on the subject."
Students wishing to earn more credit can make additions to their annotations, and hi-light them so that I can easily see the additions. Corrections are due on Wednesday.
