We're bringing the library to you!

We will be bringing a pop-up library to the Media building Wednesday 18th January, 10.30-11.30 in the foyer of M Block.

Come and browse a selection of books, all available for you to borrow. There will also be a selection of journals so you can see what we hold in the main library.

Come and take a look.

Mindfulness Workshop 10th Jan 10am-12pm Foscote Room

Trailing the Mindfulness Club, Liane Davis aims to help students deal with stress skilfully and build self-awareness through guided meditation in a peaceful and safe space. The club has no religious affiliation, and is open to all students of all experience levels.

The workshop emphasizes practical techniques for managing stress, lowering anxiety, and increasing concentration. On a deeper level, students are encouraged to be present in each moment by becoming more attentive to thoughts and sensations in the mind and body.

Yoga mats are available to use, please wear comfortable clothing and turn off all mobile phones!

Box of Dreams All Week – Banbury & Bicester Campus

Box of Dreams is where students are encouraged to write on a postcard their dreams and goals for 2017 and pop them into the box in chance of winning a £10 iTunes Voucher! These sparkly boxes can be found inside the SU and Reception.

I Have A Dream All Week

Listen out for the famous motivational speeches of the world in the SU every break time. Who inspires you? Pop into the SU that week and have a chat with us.

Banbury library will be holding its first pop-up library next Wednesday the 14th December, 11-12 in the foyer of the Creative Arts block (F Block).

We will be bringing a selection of books for you to browse and borrow over the Christmas break. There will also be a selection of journals so you can see what we hold in the main library.

12 Days of Christmas

It is that time of year again, and all of us at the Student Union have been working hard to bring you the best Christmas celebratory event this year. 12 Days of Christmas is a series of workshops, spread across the days, which include fantastic events such as Christmas Candle Making and Decorating the College Tree.  There are lots for you to get involved in around campus, whether you're arty, or not so arty, and because there's something to do on each day, there is no fear of missing out! 

Have I also mentioned that these workshops are all FREE to attend and you don't need to book onto them, how easy is that?

Anti-Bullying and Self-Care Week 14-18th Nov

This week, we are a having a week purely focused on raising awareness of anti-bullying and self-care.

You will find lots of ways around campus on how to get involved, including:

  • Make your Staff Shout Out - Pop into the SU to write about a member of staff that has shown you kindness recently and stick it on our notice board.
  • Self-Care App - You will find posters all around Campus on how to take care of yourself on the go.
  • Wednesday Meeting - Come into Reception on Wednesday morning to speak to the Student Engagement Advisor, Safeguarding Advisor and the Nurse about any issues you have about bullying or self-care, or grab yourself some beautiful tip cards and goodies from the stand!

Pick six reads and record them in your diary. You can register and record your reads online via the library website or sign up in the library and get a paper diary.

You can pick anything you like to read: magazines, graphic novels, newspapers, books, blogs, plays, poems, recipes or travel guides.

You can collect a badge when you sign up and another when you complete the challenge. All students who complete six reads will get a certificate and be entered into a prize draw to win Amazon vouchers, vouchers for the hair salon and restaurants and memory sticks.

For Road Safety Week, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service will be delivering interactive road safety workshops for students the morning of Tuesday 22nd November.

HE Fair 2016 – discover your next steps

If you are thinking about progressing to higher education, come along to our HE Fairs.

The Activate Learning HE Fairs take place at Reading College on Wednesday 5 October and City of Oxford College on Thursday 6 October.

More than 40 universities will be setting up stands to promote their courses and to give an insight into the student experience. There will also be a find out about HE at Activate Learning and to attend talks on key routes through higher education, including:

  •     HE and the arts
  •     HE and business
  •     HE and sport
  •     HE and hospitality (led
    by event sponsor Edge Hotel School at the University of Essex)

The event is designed for second year Level 3 students.

Talk to your tutor to find out when your group is booked to attend. Transport is being provided for students at Banbury and Bicester College to attend the Oxford event.

The Reading event will take place in the refectory and the Oxford event in the library at Oxpens Road. Talks will be held in rooms close to the main exhibitions – look out for details on arrival.
