AESD 2016-17 LCAP Update
2016-17 is year three for the state's Local Control Accountability Act.  Your feedback is valuable to us.  The draft AESD 2016-17 LCAP Update has been posted on this website in English and Spanish.

What is the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP):
The LCAP is a critical part of the new Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF).  Each school district must engage parents, educators, employees and the community to establish these plans.  The plans will describe the school district's overall vision for students, annual goals and specific actions the district will take to achieve the vision and goals.  The LCAPs must focus on eight areas identified as state priorities.  The plans will also demonstrate how the district's budget will help achieve goals, and assess each year how well the strategies in the plan were able to improve outcomes.

What is the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF)?
California's 2013-14 Budget Act included legislation to simplify the state's school finance system.  The changes introduced by the new Local Control Funding Formula represent a big change in the way California funds school district.  With a focus on local decision-making, equity, accountability and transparency, it lays the foundation for local education agencies to improve student outcomes and close the achievement gap.  The new system has an eight-year implementation plan, with 2013-14 as the transition year.In the past, districts were told where to spend state funds.  The money from the state was restricted to specific categorical program. Now districts, including Anaheim City School District will have some flexibility over the progrms they support with state funds.

Anaheim City School District sees this as an opportunity for significant improvement and is happy to collaboratively work with staff, parents, and members of the community to create a successful plan that will continue to support student success.
