The cool temperatures have been so nice this week. It reminds us that the Washington Parish Fair is getting close. The teachers are busily preparing papers and art that will be entered.

I am sending you information regarding Junior Fine Arts. This is your responsibility to complete. All entries must be at ACS by Thursday, October 12th at 8:00 AM. Be certain that you have everything labeled as per the fair catalog instructions that are printed on the back of this letter.

Your child’s health and safety are of utmost importance to us at ACS. We ask that adults remain in their cars and not walk across the street or alley during afternoon pick up. There have been several instances where neighbors have sped through the area while we are in the process of dismissing children. This is extremely dangerous. Also during the morning drop off, please drive down Avenue C to drop children off. There is no adult on duty in the back. Teachers are rushing into the parking lot themselves. If you have questions, refer to page 13-14 of the Parent-Student Handbook. Thanks for your cooperation.

I am also sending a permission form for PreK and Kindergarten students to have their eyes checked by trained members of the Bogalusa Lions Club. The tests will be held at ACS on Tuesday, October 3rd. No child will be tested without a signed permission form.

Flu shots will be administered in the ACS Library beginning at 2:45 on Tuesday, October 3. All family members and children are welcome to take advantage of this opportunity. You need to bring your insurance card. Children receiving flu shots must be accompanied by a parent.

Mr. Derik has been performing updates to our parent and student Rediker Portals program. You may have received an email about logging in. Please try to log in and make sure you can see your student’s progress. We have added the ability for students to log in separately to check homework and grades. Your parental view may have changed with these updates. We are currently working with 4-7th grade students to make sure they can log in. This is a great asset to help keep track of your student’s progress. If you are having trouble or need help, please email Mr. Derik at

Also, if you have not received a text in the last few weeks with ACS updates, please let us know so we can make sure we have your up to date cell number.

The Fall Festival is Saturday, October 7th from 5-8. Room Mothers will be contacting you to work in your class booth. More details will come next week. Mark your calendar and invite friends!

Fundraising is vital to the success of our school. Please help us sell LOTS of Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough. This cookie dough is delicious. We did taste tests to back up our claim. Funds that are raised keep us from raising tuition. We appreciate all you do for ACS.
