Newsletter 12-13-2017

I hope everyone enjoyed yesterday’s Christmas Program. I thought the costumes were outstanding, and the children were so prepared for their parts. Thanks to the students and teachers for their hard work, and to you for supplying the costumes and props.

On Friday, the staff and students can wear their “Tacky/Wacky” Christmas clothes to school. Who said Christmas sweaters and elf ears are tacky? Not me! This should be a fun way to end the Christmas season at ACS.

Remember, Annunciation will close on Friday at 12 noon for Christmas/New Year’s vacation. Classes will resume on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. It is hard to believe that the year is coming to a close, and this is the last pink letter for 2017. I want to wish everyone a blessed Christmas and a holy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.

When we return, we will participate in the “Warm Hearts, Warm Hands” Program. You can drop off new or gently used items that will provide warmth to someone less fortunate. This includes coats, sweaters, blankets, hats, caps, mittens, gloves, scarves, socks, etc. Look for items on sale after Christmas, or share winter clothing that you no longer use.

While you are looking through your closets, please be on the lookout for Sydney Penny’s blue ACS blazer. It has been missing since August, and we would like to see her have back all the pins that she worked so hard to earn.

You should have received your time for the scheduled parent-teacher conferences that will occur on Friday, January 12th. You will receive your child’s report card and have a chance to discuss his/her first semester with the homeroom teacher. If you did not receive an appointment, please let us know before Friday. Many have not returned the forms, please do so asap!

ACS Open House for new and prospective students is scheduled for Tuesday, January 16th. New PreK and Kindergarten families are welcome to visit and tour the school at 5:30 PM. Families with students in grades 1-7 are invited to visit and tour beginning at 6:00. If you know any family looking for a school placement next year, please encourage them to tour the school. Interested families are always welcome to schedule a private visit. Tell them to call the school, and we will be happy to schedule an appointment at their convenience.

Coach Mike Keen asked that I announce the Little League Basketball League for Bogalusa boys and girls is starting. He is planning an ACS Boys’ team for grades 2-4. If you are interested in your child participating or have questions, call Mike at 985-516-4455.

Carol Case from the Bogalusa Daily News stopped by to remind everyone that the paper is putting together a 2018 calendar featuring children’s pictures and birthdates. Several ACS students were featured last year. It is cute! If you are interested, call the Daily News or stop by with your child’s picture. The deadline is next week.

Once again, allow me to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Joyful New Year!
