Pre-K 3

The Pre-K 3 program at ACS follows the Early Learning & Development Standards for three-year-olds developed by the Louisiana Department of Education. Through the use of procedures, rules and manners, children develop social and emotional life skills as well as Catholic-Christian values. The main goal in Pre-K 3 is to “Bee like Jesus”. Language and literacy, math, science, social studies, creative arts, and motor skills are developed through hands-on experiences, music, art, listening, free-play, learning centers, and physical activities in an encouraging classroom. The encouraging classroom is “a community of learners” in which each child is empowered to feel a sense of belonging, self-worth, and a capacity to learn.

Academically, children are introduced to colors, shapes, numbers 1-10, and letters of the alphabet that begin each child’s first name. Special units included: Fire Safety, Dinosaurs, Farm Animals, Pets, Busy Bees Love School, All About Me, Transportation, and Seeds. Holiday/Seasonal units are: Fall, Fair, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas, Winter, Groundhog’s Day, Mardi Gras, Lent, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Spring, and Easter.

Pre-K 4

The Annunciation Pre-K 4 program utilizes a developmentally appropriate approach to early childhood education that designs instruction around the child’s special abilities. This includes whole language activities and hands-on experiences that will strengthen language arts, math, science, and social studies skills. This program will nurture creativity, encourage social and emotional growth, and expand your child’s knowledge of the world.

Our program includes rules and manners, exploring the school, transportation, safety, nursery rhymes, seasons, poetry, children’s literature, letters, colors, numbers, books, and art. Using various hands-on activities, we will focus on one letter per week from the Magical Land of Letter People. This curriculum is taught utilizing music, art, physical activities, listening skills, free-play, individual and cooperative learning, field trips and more.
