Mrs. Veda Matthews


Veda Matthews graduated from Annunciation Catholic School eighth grade in 1965, and Bogalusa High School in 1969. She earned her BS and MS degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and her Specialist degree from Southeasten Louisiana University. After thirty five years of service in the Bogalusa City School System and the St. Tammany Parish School System, Mrs. Matthews retired and returned to serve as principal of her beloved alma mater.

Rev. Daniel Brouillette


A native to St. Peter parish, he attended St. Peter School for his elementary education. In 2001, he graduated from St. Paul’s School. He received his Bachelor’s degree from college seminary at St. Joseph Seminary in 2005, and received his Master’s degree from Notre Dame Seminary in 2009. 

On June 6th 2009 Fr. Daniel was ordained to the Holy Priesthood.  He has been ministering as parochial vicar at St. Charles Borromeo in Destrehan, Louisiana. His was assigned to St. Peter Parish in Covington, Louisiana as his second parish assignment as a priest. Fr. Daniel is currently serving as pastor of Annunciation Catholic Church in Bogalusa, Louisiana.

Mr. Jim Valenti


Mr. "V" has been a catechist for the past 30 years at ACS. He enjoys having students from K through 7th each day. Having a keen interest in reading about scripture, saints, and studying the Catechism of the Catholic Church; he feels at home with our students, faculty, and staff. Serving as Master of Ceremonies at parish liturgies, he also enjoys working with adults in our R.C.I.A. program.

Mrs. Pat Bergeron


Mrs. Pat, the school's secretary, came to Annunciation in 1983 as a volunteer. In addition to performing general office duties, she maintains files and data bases; accepts, deposits, and disburses funds; is responsible for all budgetary matters; and maintains the calendar of events.

Mrs. Terry Keen


Mrs.Terry Keen has worked at ACS for over 20 years. She graduated from Bogalusa High School. She is the before care and aftercare director in addition to working in office and anywhere else she is needed. Besides being a Class of 1971 graduate, both Mrs. Terry's children are ACS graduates and her grandson also is attending ACS. She has a long proud line of ACS Alumni in her family that includes brothers, sister, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She joined the ACS faculty in 2010 after beginning her teaching career in the Bogalusa City School system in 2003. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She is the Test Coordinator at ACS. She is also a Eucharistic minister and has taught CCD at Annunciation Catholic Church.

Mrs. Victoria Sulzer


Mrs. Victoria Powell-Lovejoy Sulzer has been at ACS for the past ten years.  Previously taught at St. Louis Cathedral, St.Louis King of France and St. Paul's Episcopal School in New Orleans. Born and raised in Memphis, TN. Graduated from Lousanne Collegiate School in Memphis. Received B.A. and Teacher Certification from Tulane University. Served on School Board of Bright School for the Deaf, Tulane University Student Advisory and Grievance Committee, Committee for Experiential Learning Degree Qualification, Blue Ribbon Committee and SACS, co-founder of Parents Organization, St. Paul's Episcopal School and Tulane Evening Student Government & Student Alumni Assoc. She has six children, 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. Hobby Interest - art of all kinds, quilting, rescuing and placement of injured or abandoned animals.

Mrs. Ann Arata


Mrs. Ann Arata teaches physical education to Kindergarten - 8th grades. She holds a B.S. Degree from Northeast Louisiana University and is a graduate of West Monroe High School. She joined the ACS faculty in 2007 and is also the athletic director for all of the sports teams at ACS. She and her husband Bill have three sons, Will, Andrew, and George who have all attended Annunciation.

Mrs. Glenda Byrd


Mrs. Byrd has been a faculty member at ACS for over 10 years. She taught second grade for 5 years and has been the PreK-4 teacher for over 5 years. She previously taught for 34 years in the public school system. Mrs. Byrd is a graduate of Clarke Memorial College and Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in elementary education. She serves on the school’s hospitality committee.


Mrs. Lindsey Mitchell


Mrs. Lindsey is the Pre K Assistant, she was volunteered many years at ACS and her two children attend ACS.  She graduated from Bogalusa High School in 2001.

Mrs. Taryn Thompson


Mrs. Taryn has been with the school over 18 years. She wears many hats at ACS but calls Kindergarten her home. She is an ACS Alumni of the class of 1970. Her children and grandchildren have attended ACS.

Mrs. Cheryl Dean


After retiring from twenty-five years of teaching at a St. Tammany Parish Public School, I am excited about continuing my teaching career here at Annunciation Catholic School in first grade. I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree and then in 1990 with a Master’s degree. My husband, Todd, and I have been married for twenty-five years, and we have three children.

Mrs. JoAnn Smith


Mrs. Jo Ann is very happy to be the second grade teacher at ACS. She graduated from Bogalusa High School, earned her BA degree from Southeastern Louisiana University, and her M.Ed. from the University of Southern Mississippi. She joins ACS after 33 years of service in the St. Tammany Parish School System.


Mrs. Janice Perkins


Mrs. Janice Cox Perkins has returned to the third grade classroom where she taught for nineteen years, from 1983-2002. A forty-six year veteran in elementary education, Mrs. Perkins has taught in public and private schools in MS, FL, and LA, teaching all grades from K-7, most recently at Abita Springs Elementary in St. Tammany Parish. She received her BSed from Mississippi College and her master’s degree from SLU. Mrs. Perkins is a National Board Certified teacher and looks forward to finishing out the 2018-2019 school year in third grade.


Mrs. Shelby Temples


Shelby Temples is the 4th grade teacher at Annunciation Catholic School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in 1999. Shelby taught the first two years of her career in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. She returned to Bogalusa and taught in the Bogalusa City School System from 2001-2009. Shelby joined the ACS faculty in 2009. She is SACS coordinator co-chair. She is also an Eucharistic minister at Annunciation Catholic Church. Shelby and her husband Trent have two children and they both attend ACS.

Mrs. Jennifer George


Mrs. Jennifer George has been a teacher at Annunciation Catholic School for thirty-five years. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from the University of Southern Mississippi and certification in elementary education from Southeastern Louisiana University. Presently, she is the fifth grade homeroom teacher and teaches English to the fifth grade and Social Studies to grades four through seven. Mrs. George is co-sponsor for 4-H, a member of the Children’s Coronation Committee.  Both of her children, Devin and Megan, graduated from Annunciation. Her granddaughter, Jayla, is presently a student here.

Mrs. Susan Taylor


Susan Taylor is the 6th grade homeroom teacher at ACS. She attended Annunciation Catholic School, Bogalusa High School, Louisiana State University, and Southeastern Louisiana University. Susan has a Master of Education degree. Her teaching career began at Annunciation in 1976. In 1979 she moved to the Bogalusa City School System, where she taught until her retirement in May of 2012. She returned to Annunciation in the fall of 2012. She is also the sponsor of the Junior Beta Club at ACS.

Mrs. Tabetha Ezell


Mrs. Tabetha Ezell has been a teacher at Annunciation Catholic School for twenty years. She currently teaches reading and literature to grades four through seven, as well as seventh English. She graduated magna cum laude from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, with area of concentration in family studies. She returned to both SLU and the University of New Orleans to obtain certification in English education. Mrs. Ezell is the moderator for Student Council; she is the Duke Talent Search Coordinator; she is the middle school co-sponsor of Junior Beta Club; and she is also co-chairperson of both the Children’s Coronation and SACS committees at ACS. Mrs. Ezell is privileged to be the 7th grade homeroom teacher, and she is fortunate to oversee and coordinate all seventh grade graduation activities. She is also a lector and a high school CCD teacher at Annunciation Catholic Church. Mrs. Ezell is a proud member of the ACS Class of 1986. She and her husband Patrick have two sons, Joseph and Jack.
