Welcome to 6th grade at TMS and to the Islanders Team!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you and your parents this year as you transition from elementary school to middle school.  You'll notice right away that a little of the freedom you've been craving is coming your way at TMS, but with that freedom comes responsibility.  You can do this!

We'll spend quite a bit of time during the first few weeks (and beyond) helping you learn new middle school expectations and develop excellent habits.  You'll learn each teacher's expectations for your behavior in class, routines, and daily procedures.  We'll talk about and practice how to transition between classes, expectations in the hallway, bathrooms, library, and cafeteria.

One of the most important aspects of your middle school education involves relationships!  Learning to develop positive relationships with teachers, coaches, principals and other school staff as well as all those NEW STUDENTS you're going to meet from other elementary schools, will make your middle school experience AWESOME and unforgettable!  As you meet new people, keep in my favorite and well-known quote by Maya Angelou:
