Room 10 - Biography Portraits Come Alive, 2016!


Grade 3 - Art - Color Theory Color Wheels
Third graders learned about color theory to prepare for a painting unit inspired by the Fauvists. To reinforce their learning and share that learning with other, students worked in pairs to create these Explain Everything tutorial videos. Please check out the playlist below to learn more.

Students worked in groups to create a book trailer for a book they had read.




Room 19 National Parks eBook

The students studied the National Parks of the United States and worked on a class bookThey created a nonfiction informational book using iBooks Author. Two forms of the book are linked below:
  • PDF version: Note that this file is larger, but may be opened and read directly on a computer, as well as downloaded to a device, such as a Kindle.
  • iBook version: This is an eBook version that only works on Apple devices.


Room 17 Book Reviews
The class worked on creating book reviews and posted them in Destiny so that students could read them in the library catalog. Then a webpage was created  to hold all the reviews and the students created a QR Code to link to their specific reviews. The QR Codes were printed and placed on books in the library for students to scan.

Room 17 Gingerbread Houses

The “pastry chefs” in Room 17 fashioned their gingerbread creations having had explored traditional literature including Hansel and Gretel and various versions of The Gingerbread Man. In their construction, you may notice architectural sophistication, such as rooftop decks, porticos, and trellises. Festive fun in fourth grade still exists!

Room 17 - Grade 4

Fourth graders worked in partnerships to learn about different early explorers. They created a poem modeled after the work of J. Patrick Lewis in A World of Wonders: Geographic Travels in Verse and Rhyme and also drew a picture for their poem. They then recorded their poems to present this page.  Class Collaborative Early Explorers eBook

Fourth graders, in Room 17, worked in partnerships to learn about different early explorers. They composed their research in Google Drive and created a poem modeled after the work of J. Room 19 - Grade 4

Mrs. Cole's Fourth grade class learned about early explorers.  They worked in teams of two to research, using printed books and the Internet. Then they composed an interview with an explorer, who had "returned" from the past to visit them for a day. Follow the link above to check out their interviews.

Grade 6

Grade 6 - Stop Motion Animations
Six graders created these stop motion animations in art class with Miss Hayes. They learned about stop motion animation from Kirsten Lepore, who recently did a stop motion animation version of the cartoon Adventure Time. They were also inspired by a group of brothers called the Animation Chefs, who have a website and youtube page that help teach children how to create their own stop motion animations. 


Grade 6 - Multicultural Music Projects
Six grades researched music in different cultures and created presentations using 30Hands.
