Sushil Kumar

August 12 2012 - Sushil Kumar was in good nick.. he was in the contention for a Gold where he finally lost to the Japanese wrestler.. There was a sense of relief when I opened the TV.. it was the time when Sushil Kumar was in the middle of his sensational semifinal bout.. he was trailing 3-0 but went onto win his bout in style.. it did appear that he could probably win the much elusive gold medal for India.. but it was not to be.. Yet well played Sushil Kumar..

We are highly obliged to you and five other Indians winning an all time high of 6 medals for India in the Olympic History..

Yogeshwar Dutt

August 11 2012 - Yogeshwar Dutt did not start too well when he lost his 1/8 round to Russian.. yet he went into rechepage rounds and what a brilliant display by Indian resulted him in winning almost two matches in a row to win the fourth bronze and overall fifth medal for India.. it was AGAINST Dem. Rep. Korea's Jong Myong Ri after having beaten Puerto Rico and Iranian wrestlers in the earlier rechepage rounds.. well done.. bahut achchhe..

We are proud of his success.. I would definitely give a strong chance for Sushil Kumar tomorrow.. Keeping my fingers crossed.. decided not to watch the contests for better luck to him.. a superstition was proved wrong that India won despite my watching it live..

MC Mary Kom

August 08 2012 - Mary Kom found her semifinal opponent Nicola Adams of Great Britain had the better of her and culminated further advancement of Indian hope of a Gold or Silver .. well fought Mary.. what you have achieved for the country can not be underestimated.. we are all proud of you and your achievements. The bronze medal in the first year of the induction of Women's Boxing event  is a matter of great joy..

India with this fourth medal at London Olympics has achieved its best performance ever in number of medals won at the Olympics..

C Mary Kom Himangte of India is through to the semifinals of Women's Fly (51 kg) weight Boxing event.. a minimum of a bronze is assured for sure.. we can expect something more from her..

Saina Nehwal

August 04 2012 - Saina Nehwal walked away with the bronze medal in the Women's single event of Badminton today.. India in the process picks its third medal  of London Olympics..

Saina's opponent Wang Xin of China could not continue beyond the first game and 1 point in next as she retired.. Wang Xin was gasping for energy and injured herself.. the  match and the bronze medal was awarded to Saina Nehwal.. Saina is the first Badmintom player ever to win an Olympic medal for India.. A sport dominated by China, Indonesia, South Korea, Denmark and Malaysia (Great Britain and Netherlands) in the Olympics..

The games were declared open on July 27 2012 after an llustrious opening ceremony in London

 Vijay Kumar

August 03 2012 - Vijay Kumar has become a real life hero as he just picked up a silver medal in Men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event today.. Vijay Kumar's efforts after being placed fifth at the qualification stage comes as a great breather.. the journey to the second medal for India a silver this time was the most pleasant surprise of the day.. Vijay is the screen name of Amitabh Bachchan in many of his successful Hindi films..

Vijay Kumar emulated the legendary actor  lived his own real name with a win.. he has not just won a medal but has also won a billions of hearts of his countrymen at the same time..

India is now placed 32nd with seven other countries in the medal tally..

Gagan Narang

July 30 2012 - India opens its account at London Olympics as Gagan Narang shoots himself into glory by finishing third in a close contest in 10 m Air Rifle shooting.

Gagan Narang was into his 3rd Olympics  when he first won a medal.. compatriot Abhinav Bindra who had won Gold in the same event at Beijing in 2008 just missed to qualify for the finals.. Gagan Narang has made us all proud by putting India into the medals tally as early as on the day 3 of the London Games. Romania took the Gold and Italy the silver in the event.

The last two days proved too good for India..
On Penultimate day India's Yogeshwar Dutt performed exceptionally well in Rechepage rounds to win a bronze medal in his 60 Kg Freestyle wrestling bout..
On the final day of the events India's Sushil Kumar just missed the Gold when he lost in the finals of 66 Kg Freestyle wrestling to japan's  Yonemitsu.. Thus India finished the London Olympics on a high note bagging as many as six medals.. even if the kitty did not have any Gold it was the finest moment in India's Olympic History.. with two silvers and 4 golds.
Jamaica's Usain Bolt performed a triple feat for his country as he won 100 m, 200 m and 4X100 m relay race events to prove beyond doubt as to who was the fastest man on the earth..
United States of America emerged the supreme power @ London Olympics with 46 gold medals were on the top of the emdals tally followed by People's Republic of China finsihing second and the host nation Great Britain emerging overall third in the medals tally..

* Indian Hockey team has probably had the worst Olympic ever.. they even loose to Belgium 0-3.. something is amiss somewhere
* The saddest news of the day was that Vijender Singh failed to advance to semifinals of his Bxing event.. I had got up around the time when the quarter final bout was about to start to attend nature's call.. was I responsible for his defeat.. most of the times when I am watching the clashes involving India.. the loss looms itself looms larger than the win.. except for the Saina Nehwal's match which I did watch and which she eventually won after her opponent had retired injured..
* The day also saw the Narang and Rajput crashing out of 3 position rifle event..
* The silver lining was offered by Vikas Gowda who qualified for Discuss throw finals.. though the hope for a medal from Vikas is far fetched..
* One has to see how far is Mary Kom able to take India that she is already assured of a minimum of silver medal.. I would not say anything else it backfires on me..
* The only other medal hope rests with Sushil Kumar in wrestling..

* Saina Nehwal started her campaign of winning the first badminton medal for her country in nice zest it was however some tricky judgemental errors that she was soon trailing at 15-20 she did pick three points from there and the last one saw her opponent Wang Xin injuring herself seriously enough to be not able not complete the game.. Saina even after loosing 18-21 has won the Badminton Bronze was the decree of the god.. India was destined to become only the sixth country to become a Badminton medal at Olympics..
