Zia Mahmood - (born January 7, 1946 in Karachi, Pakistan) is a Pakistani professional bridge player. He is a World Bridge Federation and American Contract Bridge League Grand Life Master. He has a knack for bringing out the best in his partners and is regarded as one of the greatest players of the game. As of April 2011 he ranks number 10 among Open World Grand Masters.

Worldwide Simultaneous Pairs ( June 7 2014) I and Rajendra Prasad took part in the second day of worldwide pairs event at Matunga Gymkhana on Saturday, June 7 2014 and finished on top in the field of 22 pairs. Our national rank for the event was32 among 176 pairs ( 8 clubs) and Asia zone rank was 42 among 244 pairs (13 clubs ) and lastly we were placed 731 in a field of 4188 pairs worldwide. The resujlts become more interesting as we had goofed up in atleast 4 deals where we were sitting at the bottom.. This is indeed one of the most prominent event of my 18 months at competitive Bridge..

March 13 2014 It was a big day for me as I finally met Shri Vijay Kumar Goel and Ashok Kumar Goel at Mohanlal Bhartia Bridge tournament at Country Inn & Suites Sahibabad and later Ashok Jain Hindu College batchmate had organised a very special dinner for us ( Sandeep Jain & wife, Ajay Choudhary and wife and Vinay Mudgal) Ajay Chhabra could not come though he did call up the next day and we met at Dhruva guest House. Played in the pairs tournament on March15 and 16 with Shri Madhusoodan Sharma and Chnadra Mouli as partners. Earlier Met and played one round with Shashi Gupta Di on March 14..

BRIDGE : Playing at the Shree Matchpoint pairs event at the Winter Nationals at Ahmedabad's prestigious Karnavati Club on December 17 and 18 2013 was a great experience even if I missed an opportunity to meet Shri Ashok Kumar Goel and Vijay Kumar Goel of DSM. Shri Purnendu Hajra (Sir) had kinldy agreed to play as my partner and it did give one an opportunity to meet some of the best Bridge players in the country including Sunit Choksi and many others. Our pair finished 168th among 215 pairs that took part in the event.  
Team comprising of Abhaya Sharma, Dr. P.R. Singh, D.C. Biswas and Kalyan Bhanja bagged the first position in Splash 2013 Bridge team of four event.

Note : Due to national holiday on 26th January 2013 New community centre is closed and hence no bridge tournament will be held on 26th January.

January 25 - A pairs tournament will be conducted on 25th January 2013, 13.30 Hrs at New community centre,  Anushaktinagar. Those who are interested may participate in this tournament. For all the school students no entry fee will be charged. Two top pairs from the bridge foundation course participants ( 2012-13 ) will get prize in addition to the regular tournament prize. ( one pair will be allowed to get only one prize )
