The Kindergarten, 1st, and 5th grades have all been working on their Project Lead The Way modules. Check out the individual grade-level pages to see more details:
As our participation in the Global Cardboard Challenge ramps up, we are starting to run low on cardboard boxes and other pieces of cardboard. If you have cardboard boxes, flat pieces of cardboard or other cardboard shapes like tubes, please bring them in to the STEAM Lab! Please make sure any cardboard you donate is in good shape (no cuts/gouges/holes).
You can have a student drop them off in the Lab or in the hallway at the bottom of the stairwell leading to the lab. Thank you!
If you are interested in helping build up the capabilities of the STEAM Lab, please consider looking at the STEAM Lab wish list and picking an item to donate. There are a number of inexpensive items that would really help, as well as a number of larger-ticket items that multiple families, or local businesses, may be interested in sponsoring. Thank you for your generosity!
Here's the STEAM Lab wish list.
Please email Bill Van Loo with any questions about wish list items.
On Tuesday, September 16, Ann Arbor STEAM at Northside hosted our first-ever Curriculum Night. It was wonderful to see so many parents and families, and we had many great conversations about the STEAM Lab, Project Lead The Way, and the exciting new changes to the school.
If you are looking for the list of Project Lead The Way modules by grade level, which includes the curriculum alignment for each module, please visit the Project Lead The Way Launch Curriculum page.
On Friday, our 5th grade classes got to see an awesome demonstration of gravity, which they have been studying in their science unit. Here's the video of the final test to see if two objects of different weights fall at the same speed.
Have you heard about the Global Cardboard Challenge? Ann Arbor STEAM will be participating this year, and we'll be starting to build soon!
Check out the Global Cardboard Challenge site for more information, and look for updates about the STEAM classes' participation.
