Writing Center Application - 2015-2016

If you are interested in being a Writing Center tutor during the 2015-2016 school year, follow the link to complete the required online application process.  Students are hand-selected by the director; a completion of the application does not guarantee admittance into the program.  Moreover, there are basic thresholds a student must meet to be considered for a position as a Skyline Writing Center tutor.
  1. The applicant must be a junior or a senior in the academic year for which they are applying.
  2. The applicant must not have any significant issues relating to discipline, attendance, and/or tardiness.
  3. The applicant must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or better, and the applicant must have earned a B or better in all classes awarding English credit.
  4. The applicant must submit a scored mastery assignment for review.  The mastery assignment must be 250 words or more in length.
  5. The applicant must provide the name of a Skyline High School staff member who will give them an unqualified recommendation with respect to both academic achievement and character.
New for 2015-2016, students applying to Writing Center must also be interviewed by the Director and the Writing Center Student President.  Students should not apply tutors if they are unwilling or unable to be interviewed.

If you meet the above criteria, including the interview requirement, and want to be part of the 2015-2016 team, consider applying today!  Students will not be admitted after the application process is closed.
