For students who stay after school and who normally ride the school bus, there is a late bus available on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The bus departs Scarlett at 4:50 PM sharp!
For students who stay after school but who do NOT normally ride the school bus, we need and expect ALL Scarlett Nation families to pick their students up by 5pm. There is NO supervision after 5pm. In the event that a student is NOT picked up before 5, we will document the incident, and thereafter, the student will not be allowed to stay for after school activities.
For students who are NOT in an organized, teacher/sponsor led activity, you MUST be picked up by an adult after school. NO STUDENT is permitted to ride the “Late Bus” if they are NOT in an organized, teacher/sponsor led activity.
Your scholar-athlete/student must keep in step with the school’s social contract and, in turn, sustain a “positive standings” with the given behavioral expectations. Any student who fails to comply with either the social contract or any specific behavioral expectations set by the Administration/Athletic & Co-Curricular Director, Coach, or Club Sponsor will be asked to go home and a conversation with said coach/sponsor, parent/guardian, and Athletic & Co-Curricular Director/Administration must take place before said student may participate in after school activities, to include sports teams or late bus privileges.
Unless you have explicit consent of the school’s administration team or Athletic & Co-Curricular Director, please make sure ALL students AND THEIR SIBLINGS are picked up, or ride the appropriate school bus home after school. The Athletic & Co-Curricular Director, Coaches, and Club Sponsors are not liable for any NON-Scarlett students (to include siblings of SMS students). We encourage all families to secure a means of after school transportation for all their children.
We work hard to ensure EVERY students’ safety while they are learning and growing here at school. With that said, we know sometimes there may be a lack of communication, and you may find yourself looking for your student after school.
If your student has a cell phone, tell them to text you where they are going
Create a plan the night before school, if they plan on staying for a club or practice
Make sure your student knows to call home and SPEAK DIRECTLY with someone before staying after school
Review the Scarlett Athletics Web Site for details on club times/days and sport practices and games/meets
If your student has a cellphone, call them. If there is NO answer, call every 5 minutes until they answer
Call your student’s best friend (get their number ahead of time)
If they are in a club or sport, call the coach (get their number ahead of time)
Review the bus route schedule to ensure they DIDN’T ride the bus home, when you told them not to (this happens more often than what you think).
