Chapter 11 Challenge Project

Design a Park

Measure Length, Area, and Temperature

Your city is planning to build a new park in the community. They have asked you to design it for them.

Research the total area of land used for your community and the area used for parks and recreation. Then determine how much area you will designate for this new park.

Include at least three of the following sections in your park: play structures, equipment, sports fields or courts. Draw a two-dimensional design on grid paper.

Determine which unit of measurement you will use. Create a scale for your park design. Measure and record the length, width, perimeter, and area of each section of your park.

Write a description of your park. Include the length, width, perimeter, and area of each section.
