July 16-29th, 2011   The Venturers tackled the east shore of Georgian Bay in kayaks amongst the 30,000 islands. 
 February 26, 2011  1st Kanata hosted the annual Carleton Area Klondike Derby.  Great weather and lots of help with Scouters, Venturers and parents created a fun-filled day of sled activities.  After the big race and banquet, the trophies were presented.  See our archived webpage for details and photos.  See you next year!
Our two sleds did well in the friendly competition with wins for Best Sled and Top Senior Sled.

Well done everyone, and thanks to all the parent volunteers, Venturer Offers of Service, and the Organizing Committee.  We couldn't have done it without you!
Let's do it all again in 2012.
 November 11th, 2010 Several youth and Scouters attended the Kanata North Remembrance Day parade and ceremony at the Village Green Cenotaph.   The youth smartly carried the flags and lay the wreath.
October 22-24th, 2010Packs were out at Camp Opemikon while the Troop and Company linked in climbing the Cascade Mountain in the Adirondacks.
Zero degrees at night however everyone reported comfortable sleeping using the correct sleeping bags and technique.
October 15th, 2010Three youth from 1st Kanata participated in the flag ceremonies for the King of Sweden at the National Art Gallery.  Watch the YouTube video from a 1st Stittsville parent.
October 2nd, 2010The Venturers maintained their first place rank in the annual Crazy Canuk Challenge!  Team 2 ranked a respectable 7th as well.
August 15th, 2010 Seven of our Venturers return after biking across PEI over ten days.  The Advisors were on the friendly  island, but were only called in case of need.  A learning experience for sure and soon to be our 4th entry for the national Amory Award.  
August 7th, 201010 youth and Scouters went into the interior of Algonquin Park for a canoe camp and "Survivorman Challenge".  Great skills developed with paddling and portaging.  A fun time was had at the High Falls natural water park (located here).
June 12th, 2010Seven youth received their Chief Scout's Award. Congratulations on this very high achievement!
June 4th, 2010Ten Scouters were recognized for their long service years (5 - 25) to 1st Kanata at the Ontario Volunteer Awards.

March 6th, 2010Annual Banquet is our way of saying thanks to the volunteer Scouters and the support of our Sponsor since 1966, the Kanata Beaverbrook Community Association.   A list of community supporters.  
January 30th, 2010Hockey Day in Ottawa is celebrated on our rinks in Kanata at Stephen Leacock PS & Roland Michener PS from noon to 2pm.  Come out for hockey, skating, and community spirit.  
November 11th, 20091st Kanata, along with 4th and 7th Kanata Groups, participates in Rememberance Day ceremony and lays a wreath at the Village Green Cenotaph. It was a beautiful day to remember.  Photo link 
October 3rd, 20091st Kanata Venture Company places 1st in the annual Crazy Canuk Adventure Challenge amongst 22 Companies in the Ottawa area. They were 31 minutes ahead of 2nd place, completing the canoeing, biking and hiking all within 2 hours 46 minutes.  Our 2nd entry placed a respectable 13th overall. 
August 30th, 2009The 1st Kanata Venturer Company returns from the Grand Canyon and surrounding attractions like Monument Valley, Green River canoeing and Bryce Canyon. 
August 18th, 2009Beaverbrook Troop returns from backpacking on the Long Traverse in Gros Morne National Park in NL.  See our dedicated webpage for more details.
 June 20, 2009 1st Kanata paints the lawn lamp posts of the Tiffany Crescent & Place. 
 May 2, 2009
 1st Kanata helped to plant 1600 seedlings and 100 trees on the Watts Creek Pathway. Scouts and Venturers
have gone door to door raising monies for the Canadian Scout Brotherhood Fund, Gros Morne and Grand Canyon summer
 April 18, 2009  Annual Bike Exchange
Thanks to the community, we had our best Bike Exchange in our history!  Over 370 bikes exchanged hands.
We hope to see you again next April.
