PROGRAM

Students will practice their technology skills by successfully navigating websites and using standard conventions of text when using the mouse and keyboard to type. They will participate in the Hour of Code – a national event where students write code in order to program characters to overcome obstacles in fun games such as Angry Birds and Minecraft. Throughout the year students will use programs such as:

GarageBand – musical software for playing instruments

iMovie – movie making software with transitions and other effects

Word – word processing software for typing text

Excel – spreadsheet software for creating graphs

PowerPoint – presentation software for creating slideshows

IMAGINATION SUITE

Pixie – creativity software combining text, images, art and voice for expressing ideas

Frames – animation software for creating movies

ImageBlender – photo editing software for editing pictures

CREATIVITY APPS

KidPix – a fun painting software for creating projects, animations, and slideshows

Sculptris – a 3-D sculpting software for creating characters

Google SketchUp – a 3-D software for creating architectural designs

Tinkercad - a 3-D site for creating 3-D images online
