School begins at 8:00AM and ends at 2:20PM. Breakfast is served from 8:00AM to 8:20AM in the classroom. Students are encouraged to wear school uniform: black/blue pants and yellow shirt.
ELA: TC Reading and Writing are used for Grades K-5. Scholars are exposed to a variety of genres in reading as well as different writing structures. There is an even split between informational and literary texts used throughout the units. Grades K-2 also use Fundations to help build their phonemic awareness and decoding. Grades 3-5 also use I-Ready as well as Ready books in their classrooms to help them prepare for state exams.
Math: GoMath is used in all grades, K-5. Materials are also selected from EngageNY to provide scholars with opportunities to work on rigorous math tasks. Ready Problem Solving books are also incorporated into math instruction.
Social Studies: We use Passport to Social Studies to help meet the standards in social studies in Grades K-5.
Science: We are transitioning into a new science program that will help us address the Next Generation Science Standards. We are using hands-on activities and a variety of resources to make the learning come to life in all classrooms.
iReady: Students in grades 3-5 engage in online reading and math lessons based on results of a diagnostic test taken earlier this year. The next diagnostic will be administered in May.
