The Bob Cleverley 8-Man All-Star Game, often referred to simply as "The Clev," is an annual high school football event in Montana that celebrates the best senior players from the state's 8-man football programs.

History and Purpose
Origin: The game was founded in 1984 by legendary Ennis High School coach Bob Cleverley and a group of fellow coaches.
Mission: It was established to provide an all-star opportunity for Class C players who were often overlooked by other major state games like the Shrine Game.
Evolution: Originally played in cities like Bozeman and Billings, the game found its permanent home in Butte in 1990 after struggling financially in other locations. It was renamed in honor of Bob Cleverley shortly before his death in 2007.

The Clev is known for several traditions that differentiate it from standard all-star contests:
Fluid Teams: Unlike traditional "East vs. West" formats, the division of teams (Red vs. Blue) changes every year based on the participating schools' geographic divisions to prevent long-term rivalries and focus on new bonds.
Selection Process: Players are chosen based on being the "best 8-man players" in the state rather than strictly by position. This sometimes results in unconventional rosters, such as a team having multiple quarterbacks and no offensive guards, highlighting the versatility of 8-man athletes.
Code of Conduct: The game maintains a very strict code of conduct; players who do not adhere to it are removed from the event, as the focus is on character rather than just wins and losses.

Venue: The game is typically played at Montana Tech's Bob Green Field (Alumni Coliseum) in Butte.
2024 Result: The Blue Team defeated the Red Team 48-24 in the 40th annual game.
2025 Result: The Blue Team rallied for a 28-23 victory, marking their third consecutive win.
Sponsorship: Local businesses and families play a critical role in supporting the players, with sponsorships ranging from local ranches to construction companies.
Congratulations on your selection to the Treasure State 8 Man All Star Football Game or the Clev. Players report on Tuesday, June 1st, and the game will be on June 5th. The banquet will be on June 4th. Please follow the instructions carefully.
