I'm a new teacher at ATA this year but a long-time member of the community. My parents met as students at UO and I grew up in Eugene and graduated from Churchill. While I wasn't a Jefferson Middle School student, I did take BASIC programming classes in the old Jefferson building during the summer in the early '80s on Commodore PET computers! I live just a few blocks from campus.
I hosted radio programs on KRVM and KLCC and graduated from LCC before I moved to Seattle in the early '90s. I worked in local radio and ran my own mobile deejay business throughout the decade and earned my BA from UW in journalism. Near the the turn of the millennium, I went off seeking adventure and found myself teaching English in many spots around the world where I was bit by the teaching bug. I went back to school for education and math and earned my Masters in Teaching from Evergreen in Olympia in 2002.
Since then I have been teaching K-8 technology and middle school math, with a few interruptions moving for my wife's work and stints as a stay-at-home dad. We have two boys, our 6 year-old recently started kindergarten in 4J's new Chinese Language Immersion Program this year! That's the quick summary, feel free to ask me questions anytime.
