A web filter is an appliance that screens web pages to determine if the content should be displayed. The filter checks the website against our rules, as well as scans for objectionable content and malicious software.
The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requires that K-12 schools and libraries use Internet filters and implement other measures to protect children from harmful online content.

Not Rated
Most innocuous sites are blocked because their web developers have left the site as Not Rated. Instructional Technology reviews the Not Rated sites when requested by classroom teachers.
