July 25, 2017 - The First Failure

It was bound to happen sooner or later with 50 projects being done in one year...this project is now unfortunately dead due to the art itself being cancelled! We received the call from Executive Director, Kristian Anderson, that The Mosque was no longer going to be included in the exhibition for several reasons. While we have put some significant energy into trying to promote and fund raise for this particular installation, we are more just disappointed on a personal level, as we believed it would be a strong and important piece. There is still a large collection of fantastic pieces coming, but as for this particular "Iron", the project is over!

June 5, 2017 - Familiarity breeds tolerance

When we heard that UMOCA was bringing a large exhibit of Saudi Arabian contemporary art to Utah, we were very interested to see what could and would be shown. One of the pieces, a chain-link mosque, struck a particular chord. Art has an amazing way of giving people a window into a different world, where they might be able to learn, tolerate, and connect with their fellow human. It was clear to us right away that we wanted to be a part of making this amazing exhibit happen in Salt Lake City.
