Within the 2UOS Essential model, students engage first with self-paced coursework, followed by a weekly synchronous live session hosted in Zoom. We've pre-configured a course shell for you, to ensure consistency and clarity across all courses, and to help get you started with a suggested outline. The provided course template has three main sections: Live Sessions, Toolbox, and Weekly Content. Each section is pre-populated with suggested pages, but you can add or edit as you see fit to tailor it to your course's needs.
Below, we provide an overview of the three sections within the course. For detailed instructions, please navigate to Editing Your Course Content.
The Live Sessions section houses the links to your weekly synchronous classes. This section will be populated for you, so no editing is needed.
The Toolbox section acts as a hub for all important and/or general information. For certain pages you can simply click and edit, others require you to turn on editing prior to making any changes.
Announcements
Use the announcement forum to send important information to all students regardless of their notification preferences for forums. Examples of information you might share using this forum include:
A new Module has been released
Results from a graded assignment are ready to be viewed
Dates and times for Live Sessions
[PLEASE EDIT] Syllabus
Use this section to upload the PDF of your syllabus (required) and remove “[PLEASE EDIT] from title when complete.
[PLEASE EDIT] Overview
Use this section to upload a Video Recording introducing your students to your course.
[PLEASE EDIT] Resource Bank
Use this section to upload frequently-accessed resources folder for entire course. Remove “[PLEASE EDIT] from title when complete.
Use the Weekly Content section to build out the remainder of your course. There is one module for each week of the term. Like the Toolbox section, some pages can be edited by simply clicking on them, while others require you to turn editing on before you can access editing privileges. See The Design Process for more information on what types of content and activities to put in each section of the weekly template.
It is possible for you to view your course through the eyes of other users in the Online Campus. For example, you may wish to see how your course will look to students when they log in. To temporarily switch your role in the platform to other user types:
Click on your name at the top right of the platform
In the dropdown menu, click on "Switch role to..."
Choose the role that you would like to view your course as - you will typically select "Student."
You can now see your course as your students will see it
When you are done viewing your course as another role, again click on your name at the top right of the platform, and select "Return to my normal role" from the dropdown menu.
