Faculty Enrichment

"adding value and significance to the overall teaching experience."

Instructional Development Enrichment Seminars

The Instructional Development team is proud to sponsor the Faculty Enrichment Program. Our enrichment seminars are free professional development for all educators associated with a 2U partner program.

Our goals for the program are three-fold:

  • to assist faculty in gaining knowledge of teaching practices in digital education

  • to create spaces to share, collaborate, and communicate

  • to provide additional opportunities for research and instruction

Seminars are taught by experienced members of our training team, internal 2U experts, or faculty who teach in a 2U powered program. They contain theory in combination with practice, and often focus on a variety of digital tools. Facilitators direct the seminar much like an instructor in a live session by asking faculty to participate in contributing comments, asking questions, and completing engagement activities while learning amongst their peers. Most seminars last approximately one hour.

Certificate Program: The certificate program offered by the Instructional Development team awards Credly badges to faculty who demonstrate proficiency in online education and digital learning by attending six seminars. There are four types of badges: Core, Elective, LXF and Equity. See below for a description of each category.

Note: All seminars are recorded. Recordings and materials are added to our website within 24 to 48 business hours after the conclusion of the seminar. Beginning in January 2022, viewing recordings will not count towards earning a certificate.

Seminars are broken down into the following categories:

Core Seminars: A series of five different seminars recommended to help faculty get started with the basics for teaching online using 2U platforms, or to gain new ideas and insights after teaching for many terms. Core seminars are numbered but do not need to be taken in order and are offered at different times throughout the term/semester. Faculty can earn a Credly badge for completing the Core.

LXF: LXF: A series of six seminars on the Learning Experience Framework (LXF) developed by 2U's strategy team and culled from research specifically in adult learning theories. LXF seminars are numbered and ideally taken during the six week block, but it is not required. The series is offered three times a year and a Credly badge will be presented to faculty after completion. Faculty may work on completing the LXF throughout the year. Learn more about 2U's Learning Experience Framework here.

Elective Seminars : Elective seminars are additional, subject-driven sessions on a variety of topics. Elective seminars are constantly changing based on faculty needs. A Credly badge is earned for completing six elective seminars.

Equity Seminars: Equity & Social Justice in the Digital Learning Environment seminars are a series of eight workshops. These workshops are developed to help instructors create more equitable spaces for students in the online environment by acknowledging, accepting, learning, and acting to change systematic forms of oppression. A Credly badge is earned after completing the series.

Seminar Facilitator: This recognition is awarded to instructors and 2U staff members who develop and facilitate an enrichment seminar. Contact facultyenrichment@2u.com for more information.

Faculty Enrichment LinkedIn Group

We encourage you to join the Faculty Enrichment LinkedIn Group. This group provides all faculty who teach in a 2U-powered program with a platform to share ideas and engage in meaningful discussions with peers.

  • Networking: The Faculty Enrichment LinkedIn group is an opportunity to connect with faculty from other 2U partner programs and engage in discussions about best practices across disciplines with peers at other universities.

  • Educational Resources: You will find articles, videos, and images related to teaching in an online environment. These resources include information on educational technology, graduate level instruction, and the latest trends in online learning.

As part of our goal to enrich the faculty experience, we invite all faculty to join us in any of the following new and exciting seminars. Use the calendar below to register for as many seminars as you would like. Continue to check back for more offerings and added dates. You may use this link to add this calendar to your personal Google calendar.
