My Background
I attended college at the University of Minnesota (2006-2010), and completed an Art major and Spanish minor. I was fortunate to get a scholarship to study public art and human rights in Argentina, and this trip solidified my dedication to art education. In Buenos Aires, I learned how artists were part of the resistance against a brutal dictatorship, using their art as a way to connect people, change their country, and heal from the tragedy. I wanted to help young people recognize how powerful and life-changing art can be, and made the decision to become an art educator.
I continued at the University of Minnesota and went on to earn my Master's in Art Education (2010- 2011). Shortly after, I was hired at Hilltop Primary and have loved every minute of my time here. I believe that art education is necessary to help kids achieve academically, explore freely, grow intellectually, and create confidently. We are lucky to have a community that cares deeply about access to quality art education!
I currently live in Minneapolis, where I enjoy being equidistant from the Walker Art Museum, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and Lake Bde Maka Ska. In the summers I enjoy teaching and taking art classes, playing on an intramural kickball team, and gardening, as well as working part-time for the Department of Pediatrics at the U of M.
