Mrs. Andersen

DLB Elementary Assistant Principal

WELCOME!

My name is Kayla Andersen and this is my 14th year in education. I graduated high school from Glenburn and went to Bottineau for my generals while playing basketball and volleyball for two years. After getting my general classes in, I went to Minot State University and received my Elementary Education degree. In 2014, I received a Master in Education through Valley City State University, and in 2017, I finished my Educational Leadership credential through NDSU.

My first year was spent at Burke Central teaching a third and fourth grade combination class. The following year, I got a job and DLB and started in the library. My first year I was strictly library, and since then I have taught a number of classes including 6th and 8th grade Reading, 8th grade Language Arts, Speech, Media Skills, Science Exploration, and 6th grade Science. In 2014, I decided to try something new and taught teachers for two years at Mid-Dakota Education Cooperative or MDEC. After my second year, I knew that wasn't what I was meant to do, I knew I needed to continue working with kids, and I came back to DLB as assistant principal and teacher. One of the best decisions I've made, because I LOVE this school district!

My husband's name is Dan, and we have two children, Hayden, who is in 2nd grade, and Easton,,who is in 6th grade. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, watching movies and sports (Go Cowboys and Tar Heels and, of course, the Lakers!), playing taxi to my kids, reading books, exercising, cooking and spending time at the lake!

I look forward to each day with the kids and am excited to see what each year brings! Together we learn so much each day!
