IFRS for SME Refresher & Update

South African accountants have been drafting financial statements on International Financial Reporting Standards for Small and Medium Entities since 2009, and were in fact the international trailblazers since 2006 as we were the first to adopt the Exposure Draft as a South African Standard over a decade ago.

The Standard was tweaked in 2015, with a handful of critical amendments that become effective for years beginning on or after 1 January 2017.

It standards to reason that this course will assume a basic knowledge, as we have been working with the course for over a decade.

The course objective is to:

  • refresh practitioners working knowledge of IFRS for SMEs
  • understand the key differences between IFRS and IFRS for SMEs
  • identify opportunities to add value to your clients through adopting IFRS for SMEs
  • discuss common problems, challenges and considerations unpacking, for example in the following areas: PPE, Financial Instruments, Intangible Assets, Investment Properties, Deferred Tax and any other topic raised in discussion
