Tryptophan is an alternative rock band based in Philadelphia. The band consists of Juana Parral on vocals, Larry Barnes on guitar, and Dalton Whiting on bass. Their sound is influenced by bands like The Wonder Years and Paramore, while also incorporating the playful nature of Queen and Dispatch and the flavors of funk and folk. Formed by roommates during the pandemic, Tryptophan strives to create experiences for their audiences that are fun, cathartic, and exciting. Their songs feature themes around mental health and human nature, but also cover topics like birds and alien life. Tryptophan released a self-titled album in 2025, and an EP in 2022 titled A Deep Breath, and both are available on all streaming platforms. They have performed at Ocean City Pride Fest for the past 2 years in Ocean City, New Jersey, and are set to return for a third year on May 31st, 2025. They also regularly livestream music on their twitch channel.
