In terms 5 and 6 we will be building on the skills the children have already developed and supporting them to reach the Early Learning Goals:
Safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting with colour, design, texture, form and function.
Share their creations, explaining the process they have used.
Make use of props and materials when role playing characters in narratives and stories.
Throughout terms 5 and 6 children will be consolidating their skills in expressive arts and design to achieve their early goals. Through child initiated learning children will continue to develop their skills with resources in our arts and crafts area. Children will safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting with colour, design, texture, form and function. They will have opportunities to share their creations, explaining the process they have used. Children will make use of props and materials when role playing characters in narratives and stories with resources available in our continuous provision such as construction, small world and role play resources. The teaching team will extend and enhance learning through adult interaction.
In terms 5 and 6 we will be building on the skills the children have already developed and supporting them to reach the Early Learning Goals:
Invent, adapt and recount narratives and stories with peers and their teacher.
Sing a range of well-known nursery rhymes and songs.
Perform songs, rhymes, poems and stories with others, and – when appropriate – try to move in time with music.
In terms 5 and 6 Hippo Class will have weekly djembe drumming lessons with Ben Jackson, our music teacher and there will be a performance at the end of term 6.
Throughout the term, imagination and expression will be enhanced when children invent, adapt and recount narratives and stories with peers and their teacher; We will be reading a wide range of stories which link to our topics ‘living and growing’ and ‘by the seaside’. We will also sing a range of well-known nursery rhymes and songs and children will have the opportunity to perform songs, rhymes, poems and stories with others, and – when appropriate – try to move in time with music. Adult directed music and movement activities enhance this further, such as Danny Go and Sticky Kids, and children will perform the djembe drums to their parents and carers, at the end of term 6 with their drumming teacher Ben.
