Wheelchairs on Parade!
A three-part service project featuring wheelchair decorating workshops, learning events, and community parades & picnics.
Peace Church and InterMission (a social group associated with the church) are taking part in a three part service project known as Wheelchairs on Parade! The goals of this project are:
- Community building, specifically focusing on our neighbors with mobility impairments.
- Educate others how to interact with people who use wheelchairs.
- Have a little fun in process!
Throughout this summer and fall, we will be hosting a series of family-friendly wheelchair decorating workshops, learning workshops, and picnics & parades.
All ages and abilities are encouraged to participate! We hope you can join us for any or all of these free and fun events!
Wheelchair Decorating Workshops
Create delightful wheelchairs and walkers for parade participants!
Family Friendly
Kids, small groups, and individuals welcome!
We also have a play rooms and theater for kids who would like a break from decorating.
All Materials Provided
We'll have a variety of materials (and donated wheelchairs!) available to help your creative ideas come to life!
If you have a wheelchair or walker you'd like to decorate for the parade, please bring it!
Free Community Meal
Join us at 5 pm for a free community meal!
We want to make sure we have enough, so please let us know in advance if you're coming!
Wheelchair Decorating Workshop Dates
Decorating workshops will be held in the art room on the lower level of Peace Presbyterian Church, 7624 Cedar Lake Rd, St Louis Park, MN 55426.
- Friday, August 16th from 5 pm-7 pm
- Friday, August 23 from 5 pm-7 pm

Learning Workshops
Get all your questions answered about talking and interacting with people with physical disabilities.
Learn with Frank and Heidi!
Talking with people who use a wheelchair can sometimes feel tricky. Come learn how to make everyone feel included and comfortable (including you!).

Zest is Frank's service dog. She is an amazing helper!
Community Dinner!
Feel free to join us for a free community dinner before the session! Dinner starts at 6:00.

Community Parade and Picnic!
Fun, Food, Games, Music, and More!
Parades!
The parades will start at Peace Church and go to Hamilton House and back (0.6 miles). Everyone is welcome to join the parade! Dress up or come as you are! Pets and kids welcome!
Please meet at Peace Church at 4 pm if you'd like to be in the parade.
Picnics!
We will have a free community picnic at Peace Church following the parades! Come hungry!

Fun & Games!
Let's have some fun! Get ready for a variety of games and activities for the whole family at our "county fair"-themed event. We will specifically focus on activities that are accessible, but we'd love for everyone to participate!
Parade & Picnic Dates
The parades start at 4pm at Peace Church and goes to Hamilton House and back (0.6 miles) with a "county fair"-themed community picnic following.
- First parade & picnic: Saturday, September 7th.
- Second parade & picnic: Saturday, October 5th.
