Asst. Director: Karina Alonso-Gyure

Bio:

Karina Alonso-Gyure grew living out her dream as a child. Growing up, Karina performed with a Christian performing arts group all over the DFW metroplex, including Bass Performance Hall on several occasions. She later took her passions to school where she did it all; band, choir, and theater. A Fossil Ridge High School alumni herself, she did not feel like those were her passions in high school, and decided to try out for her school’s drill team; the Sun Dancers. Not having ever been a "studio dancer" was a challenge for Karina on the team, but with much hard work and determination, she became 1st Lieutenant her senior year. Not finding much joy in anything else, Karina decided to major in dance in college. She would go on to Tarrant County College North West and would then transfer to Texas Woman’s University, where she majored in dance and minored in education. Since then, Karina has been a part of many musical productions with additional performances with TCC and TWU. She has also choreographed for TWU dance concerts, has been a guest artist and choreographer for Tarrant County College on multiple occasions, has been a choreographer for productions such as Chasing Lights, Annie, The Other Wisemen, Seussical, Beauty and the Beast, White Christmas, The Night Shift and more! Aside from her job at Fossil Ridge, Karina frequently partners with Gateway Church in their performing arts department. While Karina loves being a teacher, she always looks forward to continuing performing and being a student of the art of dance.
