I am a Lecturer in the Department of Engineering Mathematics at the University of Bristol. Prior to joining Bristol, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brown University working with Dan Harris and an Instructor in Applied Mathematics at MIT, where I was a member of the Physical Mathematics Group working with John Bush and Ruben Rosales. I obtained my D. Phil. in Mathematics from the University of Oxford, under the supervision of Peter Howell and John and Hilary Ockendon.

My research interests pertain to applied mathematics and soft matter physics, broadly construed. In particular, I am drawn to systems with confounding physical properties, arising, for example, through unusual constitutive behaviour or as the result of complex many-body interactions. As both a theorist and experimentalist, I study, model, and rationalize the behaviour of such systems, iterating between table-top experiments and analytical models until consistent physical descriptions emerge.
