SheShreds Fest began as a passion project between two high school students who wanted to create more space for girls in music after experiencing how often female and gender-expansive artists are overlooked. What started as a small idea quickly grew into a girl-led fundraising concert that celebrates female and gender-expansive performers while supporting girls’ education worldwide. Hosted on International Women’s Day, the event brings together live performances, community, and purpose, with all proceeds benefiting SHE-CAN, a nonprofit that empowers young women from post-conflict countries through education and mentorship. SheShreds Fest exists to amplify underrepresented voices, foster creative community, and turn music into meaningful impact. Sponsors such as Splice, Magic Flute, Tommy Breeze, and other local businesses help uplift female musicians through artist compensation, merch, and other forms of support.
At the ages of 13 and 14, Tatiana Ting (guitarist) and Sienna Driegert (bassist) first connected by playing in a rock band together through the WOW! Music Studios Band Program. Over the course of collaborating together for a year and a half, they bonded over their shared passion for music and quickly went from bandmates to close friends. After graduating from the WOW Band program and starting high school at Marin Academy, Sienna became involved in the MA music program and quickly discovered its charm. Wanting to share this magic with Tatiana, Sienna dragged Tatiana to every Marin Academy music concert, eventually inspiring her to start high school at Marin Academy and join the music program herself. Although new to the musical world, these young women have firsthand experience with what it means to be a woman in music and the struggles of having their voices heard in a musical setting. Now two and three years into the MA music program, these young musicians want to unite women who have faced similar challenges. Through a partnership with WOW! Music Studios, these girls are organizing a Women in Music fundraising festival, SheShreds Fest, highlighting local female musicians within their community. They intend to fundraise for the local non-profit organization SHE-CAN, which empowers young women from post-conflict countries through education and mentorship. Combining their passions for music and social change, Tatiana and Sienna aim to amplify the impact and importance of the work SHE-CAN does, while also empowering the voices of female musicians and women globally. Â

"We believe that including women at all key decision-making tables is instrumental to solving today’s biggest issues — ensuring equity, solving the climate crisis, and building sustainable growth. However, women around the world are systematically blocked from reaching decision-maker status. SHE-CAN’s goal is to educate and empower enough young women to change this." SHECAN.globalÂ
