In a state of mindfulness, we become one with the sun, the earth, and the sky.

As a nature-based artist, my practice is rooted in field research + contemplation of the living world. Through my art, poetry, and dreamlike designs, I imagine new ways of bridging our divides, and seeing the earth with kindred eyes. Tuning into my poetic and rhythmic sensibilities, I capture symphonies of color and light from the world around me. Transcending traditions of photography, I use my lens to reimagine reality with a painterly gaze. Rather than demanding your attention, as photos nowadays often do, my work invites you to pause, reflect, and reimagine your own ways of seeing.

Invoking the legacies of Magritte, O’Keefe, Minter, and Monet— I go searching rivers, mountains, and temperate plains— in search of an oasis, an antidote, a balm tailor-made. Surrendering to the land, my eyes guide my hand, using in-camera techniques such as blur, bokeh, reflection, long exposures, and lens flares to capture what only I can see. In recent years, I’ve fluidly embraced new mediums to bring my visions to life, including collage, sublimation, cyanotype, upcycled materials, and new media.

My practice took a turn for the tangible two years ago, when I discovered sublimation printing and made my foray into textile design. In the climate movement, we often find ourselves preaching to the choir. With my wearable art, including purses, scarves, fans, and kimonos, I invite collectors to be their own billboard. Art sparks conversations, and can help us win hearts and minds for protecting our planet. Cloaked in a quiet meadow of lush velvet, sporting a sunset of sultry satin, or draped in sparkling camellias on starlight organza — may our neighbors bear witness to our blooming awareness. Even small sparks fuel the revolution.

All my love, Cecelia xx
