Samuel Edet


Samuel Edet works as an Economist with the Economic Policy Research Department, World Bank Group, where he contributes to frontier analytics on private sector development topics in support of IFC's investment, advisory, and asset-management services. These include flagship reports, Country Private Sector Diagnostics and Sector Deep Dives, articles, and other print and online IFC publications. He holds a joint doctoral degree - Ph.D. in Business Economics from KU Leuven Belgium, and Ph.D. in Systems Science from the IMT School for Advanced Studies Italy. His own research area focuses on leveraging econometrics, network theory, and machine learning tools to investigate innovation dynamics in regions and firms and the impact on technological entry, economic growth, and firm productivity. Also, he serves as a reviewer for the journal Expert Systems with Applications. His contribution to the book Cross-Border Innovation in a Changing World: Players, Places, and Policies published by Oxford University Press was quoted by The Economist in 2022, and his work on Application of Recurrent Neural Networks in Forecasting S&P 500 Index was nominated for the Thomson Reuters Excellence award in 2017.
