The Robot Control and Learning (RCL) Lab is part of the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics, in the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences at Nazarbayev University (Nur-Sultan, Republic of Kazakhstan).

Our research focuses on theoretical and real-time implementation aspects of control systems, and on their application to robotics and mechatronics, in conjunction with machine learning tools. From the control theory standpoint, we mainly focus on numerical optimal control, model predictive control (MPC), deep reinforcement learning (DRL), and sliding mode control. We apply these techniques to physical human robot interaction (pHRI), tensegrity robots, robot teleoperation, spherical parallel manipulators, and variable-stiffness-actuated (VSA) robots.
