Monkeybread

Bio

Monkeybread is a Boston based band known for their distinctive blend of rock, funk, reggae, ska, and punk. Known for energetic live shows that are filled with improvisation and hijinks.

The band first formed in 2008 when J.T., Mike, and Alex were all still in high school under the name Nihility. The music didn't really take off however until 2010 when John E. Funk joined the group. Taking advantage of the fact they all went to different colleges, the bands built a following playing gigs in Boston, Lowell, Amherst, and Hartford. In 2014, the name was changed to Monkeybread (because everyone loves monkeybread!) and the name was easier for people to remember.

From 2010-2014 they released six albums; Heartbreaks and Revolutions (2010), Leaving Your Life to Become A Farmer (2010), Live Unplugged at Van Meter (2010), Hand It Over (2011), Explosive (2012), Test Your Limits (2014)

After a ten year hiatus, they returned in 2024 with a series of shows in the Boston area, a collection of new songs, and a prospective album to be released in 2026.
