Moonflower Garden Club, named after a flower that blooms at night, was formed over thirty years ago by busy gardeners who scheduled their meetings at 7:00 p.m. so that members who worked during the day could participate. We continue this tradition today, and meet on the first Wednesday of every month, September - June for pertinent programs, comradery with garden loving members, and scrumptious refreshments. We share our knowledge and plants with each other, and learn new interests. We delight in garden tours for inspiration, work on service projects to engage the community and nurture others with intentional giving. Programs are varied throughout the year as we learn about the latest gardening methods, floral designs, conservation, and create in our fun workshops. Our Garden Therapy and Community Outreach Projects generate beauty for others to enjoy.

Conservation
We will continue to participate in organized tree plantings as they become available. Also, several members of the club attended a hearing at the State Legislative House meeting on an important water bill which ultimately passed.
Through that Door Flower Show
Every meeting of the program year 2023-2024 included some tips about preparing for the production of the club's flower show, "Through that Door" in June 2024. The show was produced to draw attention to the Hockessin Colored School #107C which was built in 1920 and played a monumental role in the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Brown v. Board of Education which desegregated schools nationwide. Today it is a Center for Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Equity.
