Primarily a percussionist Chad studied music education (percussion) with Dr. Kay Stonefelt and composition with Dr. Donald Bohlen at SUNY Fredonia then later completed a masters degree in music technology from the college of St. Rose in Albany. He began playing guitar and singing in his high school years and honed his instrumental skills later as a instrumental music teacher. Lenig's Musical interests range from the music of Stravinsky, Stockhausen and Varase to Jewel and then to Coltrane and Chick Corea.
His compositions are often eclectic usually including some signature twist that may be apparent to all or sometimes require digging to find.
