RESEARCH SUMMARY (연구요약)
Cancer begins when cell proliferation and division are deregulated due to the accumulation of genetic mutations. During the precancerous stage, cellular plasticity- the ability of cells to alter their identity and characteristics-increases, leading to the transformation into abnormal cells. As abnormalities continue to accumulate, they eventually develop into invasive cancer. This cellular plasticity is further increased when cancer metastasizes to other body sites. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying this plasticity in cancer remain poorly understood.
Therefore, our research focuses on identifying the molecular drivers of cellular plasticity during both the early and late stages of cancer development. Using primary cancer cells, organoid, and mouse models, we aim to discover molecular mechanisms involving cancer plasticity and improve our understanding of cancer initiation and progression, leading to the discovery of new biomarkers and molecular targets to improve the treatment of cancer patients.
저희 암생물학 및 생의학 실험실은 암 세포주, 폐 오가노이드, 마우스 모델을 활용하여 암의 발병 및 전이에 관여하는 여러 분자기전을 이해하고 이를 바탕으로 바이오 마커 및 표적 단백질을 발굴하는 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 본 연구를 통해 도출된 결과를 바탕으로 신규 약물 테스트 및 기존 약물의 전암에서의 효능 등도 검증해 나갈 계획 입니다.
