Laura Crosilla
Welcome!
Since September 2023, I am Researcher at the Department of Humanities, University of Florence. I am also associated with the project Infinity and Intensionality: Towards a New Synthesis, funded by the Research Council of Norway. The project is hosted by the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas (IFIKK), University of Oslo, where I was researcher until August 2023.
Prior to this, I was Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellow at the IFIKK, University of Oslo. My project was titled Infinity in Mathematics: A Philosophical analysis of Critical Views of Infinity and received founding from the European Union Horizon 2020 programme.
I work in the Philosophy of Mathematics and the Philosophy of Logic. I also have interests in philosophy of science more generally.
Prior to my Marie Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship at Oslo, I was Teaching Fellow at the Department of Philosophy, University of Birmingham (September 2017 to June 2019).
In 2017, I completed a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Leeds, with a thesis on constructive mathematics and predicativity. This was my second PhD, the first, also awarded by the University of Leeds in 2000, was in Mathematical Logic, and focused on the proof theory of constructive set theory. After my first PhD, I held Post Doc and Lecturer positions at the Institute of Mathematics, LMU Munich, the Department of Philosophy, University of Florence and the School of Mathematics, University of Leeds. In 2008 I was awarded a research grant by the John Templeton Foundation.
I am part of the Women in Computability interest group of the Computability in Europe Association.
