Hi, I'm Jisoo.

I study how humans and AI work together
in high-stakes environment.
I'm currently a Ph.D. student in Information Systems at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University Bloomington, where my research focuses on human–AI collaboration in cybersecurity.
Previously, I worked as a Research Associate at the Duke Center for AI in Radiology (DAIR), where I bring expertise gained from my previous role as a Deep Learning Researcher at Samsung Medical AI Center (SMAIC). At SMAIC, I contributed to a study titled "A comparative study of DL and non-DL methods in support of 3D MRI brain biomarker segmentation and volumetry for Parkinson's disease."
I graduated with a B.B.A. in Business Analytics and Information Systems from the University of Iowa in 2017. During my time at UIowa, I led teams in competitions like Startup Games and the Business Analytics competition at CompTia AITP, enhancing my adaptability and perseverance in tackling challenges. My college journey was truly fulfilling — you can check out my interview as an Undergrad Student Representative!
Moving forward, I obtained my M.S. in Telecommunications (Electrical and Computer Engineering) from the University of Maryland in 2021. This opportunity allowed me to explore the integration of Machine Learning with Cloud/Fog/Edge Computing, further expanding my skill set and knowledge base.
My journey through fields such as business analytics, telecommunications, and deep learning has given me a well-rounded perspective on deploying AI in real-world contexts. Building on my experience in healthcare AI, I now explore human–AI collaboration in another high-stakes domain: cybersecurity. I am particularly interested in how AI can support practitioners’ workflows, decision-making, and performance in security operations centers (SOCs).
My current research interests center on three connected areas:
Understanding how human–AI interaction shapes practitioners’ judgment and performance.
Designing adaptive incident response systems that balance security and operational continuity.
Supporting alert investigation with actionable, evidence-based AI recommendations.
Ultimately, my goal is to contribute to human-centered AI systems that deliver data-driven insights and empower individuals, organizations, and society to make informed decisions.

I'm a bit of an adventurer at heart, always on the lookout for new experiences. You'll often find me wandering through unfamiliar neighborhoods, savoring the local cuisine, or getting lost in the vibrant world of art museums.
Although I'm not exactly a master chef, I absolutely love cooking — it's a great way to connect and share stories with people. Recently, I've even dipped my toes into the world of camping and fishing, adding a touch of wilderness to my adventures.
I've crossed paths with some incredible folks on my journeys, each teaching me the importance of being kind and attentive. They've inspired me to spread the same positivity wherever I go.
Oh, and I can't forget about my adorable 5-year-old dog — she's just the cutest! One look at her, and I'm sure you'll agree. 🐾
