About Me
I am a (soon to be) graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. My primary instrument is voice, however, I am also proficient on guitar, piano, French horn, and Logic Pro. I am from Annville and attended Palmyra Area High School. I'm incredibly passionate about teaching, singing, songwriting, modern band, and educating the next generation of musicians!
Throughout my time, I have been fortunate enough to have incredible music teachers. Ones who have inspired me to become the best musician, singer, friend, and community member I can be. My only goal is to honor their hard work and continue to educate and inspire my future students.
Within my classroom, respect is held above all else: respect for one another, respect for the arts, and respect for one's self. This allows for the greatest musical, emotional, and social growth within the classroom.
I believe that the most important musical skill to learn in the music classroom is the ability to create. Learning from the greats and those who came before us is paramount. However, true musicality happens when we apply that knowledge and create something new. It can also be used as a bridge to all of the various musical standards: creating, performing, responding, and connecting. Creating and sharing music with those around us is the greatest gift we can give to the world.
Music is one of the greatest ways for students of all ages to grow emotionally. In a time when emotional growth is exponential, music is a safe, creative, and healthy outlet for students. My goal is to create that supportive environment for my students.
As far as social growth, there is no better medium than music. Participation in musical activities and ensembles allows students to connect with their fellow peers. Through participation in music, students learn valuable communication and leadership skills that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.
My dream is to be able to facilitate all of these kinds of learning within my classroom.
