from the desk of President Mike…

Greetings to all Probus members! I hope this finds you well and enjoying the heat of summer!

Your Management Committee has begun meeting and making plans for a September 9 startup at our Maranatha Church home. We anticipate that Dr. Henry and the Ministry of Health will move the province to Phase 4 status by Labour Day. We decided that we could not wait until then to start making plans. Should the rules change in unexpected ways we may have to modify our plans.

As you know, Probus is an organization run by and for the benefit of members. Our members make it go! So thanks to all those members who volunteer to serve on the management team, special event planning, and especially all activity leaders and participants. Join an activity! Or start an activity! Our club is great because you all make it happen! See you in September!

Mike Patterson

President

Probus Club is strictly a social club and is set up for semi-retired or retired people who want to stay connected with others who share common interests. It is a great way to meet new people and make new friends.

The Club is a non-fund raising organization which relies only on membership dues.

The Club meets every first Thursday of the month at 6553 Portsmouth Road, Nanaimo . The meetings start at 09:00 hrs and end at approximately 11:15 hrs. The meetings consist of three parts. There is a Guest Speaker, a short coffee break and a short business meeting.

The Club offers a wide variety of group activities in which you may wish to participate. We organize two major functions during the year: a Christmas Dinner/Dance and a summer BBQ. As well, we fund a volunteer appreciation luncheon.

The membership fees are $30.00 per person per year. We do not have scheduled Club Meetings in July and August but many of the activities remain active during the summer months.
