15-16 June 2017: EMMC-CSA Focussed Workshop

on Model Quality, Gaps & Accuracy

Accompanying meeting 12-14 June: The eSSENCE-SeRC Multiscale modelling meeting (link)

Welcome to the Focussed EMMC Workshop in Uppsala!

It starts at 9:00 on 15 June, and ends at 14:00 on 16 June

>>> The full schedule is available at the end of the Program page <<<

>>> Pre-meeting discussion notes are also found on the Program page <<<

The European Materials Modelling Council (EMMC) consists of a wide range of European stakeholders in materials modelling, including manufacturing industries, software owners and academic modellers. It was formed in February 2014 as a bottom-up European action with the goal to integrate, coordinate and enhance the use and impact of materials modelling, in particular in an industrial context. In 2016, a new Horizon 2020 Coordination and Support Action (EMMC-CSA) has been funded to augment and further boost the actions of the EMMC, coordinated by TU Wien.

This EMMC focussed workshop 15-16 June is open to a wide audience ‒ send an e-mail to the organizer if you are interested in participating (see Contact in the menu above). The main purpose of it is to discuss and identify limitations in the models we use and the consequences that this may have for the end-users, and suggest an action plan for the future. (see details and invited speakers under Program).

The meeting particularly addresses the communities of modellers and model developers, modelling educators/translators, and software developers, but the topics to be covered at this workshop will be relevant to the materials modelling community at large. The meeting is free of charge including lunches.

There is also a preceding Multiscale modelling meeting 12-14 June (see link) and the input from that meeting will be a perfect foundation for the topics of the focussed workshop. In this way the EMMC actually combines the conference on "Multiscale modelling of Materials" 12-14 June 2017 and the EMMC-CSA focussed workshop on "Model Quality, Gaps & Accuracy" 15-16 June 2017, in Uppsala. If you are interested in the Multiscale modelling meeting, fill in the registration form on that website please.

The venue of the Focussed workshop is the Biomedical center (BMC) located in the BMC-Ångström-ITC campus area of Uppsala University. The closest airport to Uppsala is "Stockholm Arlanda International Airport" (ARN) which is located between Uppsala and Stockholm (35 km south of Uppsala). Detailed information about transportation options is found under Transportation above.

We have prebooked a number of hotel rooms; see under Hotels above.

We look forward to seeing you all in Uppsala!
