Learning Assistants are undergraduate students who, through the guidance of weekly preparation sessions and a pedagogy course, facilitate discussions among groups of students in a variety of classroom settings that encourage active engagement.
News and Highlights
- CSU LAs Korvell Russell and Adaeze Olikagu invited to serve as moderator and panelist at LSAMP Spring Symposium.
- Benchik-Osborne, Van Duzor, and Sabella present on student leadership in the LA Model at the 2023 Winter Meeting of the American Association of Physics Teachers Meeting in Portland Oregon.
- Sabella and Roberts (CSU Physics alumna) had a paper published in the Physics Teacher Magazine focusing on "Creative Astronomy: Broadening the Scope of an Online General Education Course by Leveraging an Authentic Collaboration between Learning Assistant and Instructor" 61, 43 (2023); https://doi.org/10.1119/5.0080890
- Van Duzor and Sabella lead Learning Assistant Workshops at Morton College and St. Augustine College.

The CSU LA Program involves undergraduate majors as Learning Assistants in our courses. Learning Assistants learn about modern, innovative instruction and then assist faculty in their courses to facilitate collaborative learning and help other CSU students develop deep understanding of the material.
