Educational Outreach

The College of Information and Computer Sciences has developed a new outreach program in which students will plan and lead computer science events at local primary and secondary schools, with the primary focus being a set of events during CS Education Week, December 4-10. Interested students can enroll in either a 3- or 1-credit course. The focus of the course will be on planning educational outreach activities and learning about issues related to representation in computer science education. CICS is committed to diversity and broadening access to computer science education. This new program represents a continuation of the college's outreach efforts, including our participation in the Girls Inc. Eureka! program at UMass Amherst and programs managed by the College's Commonwealth Alliance for Information Technology Education (CAITE).
